Review 1:

Notice from the New York Times:
A dress rehearsal of "Parsifal" was held yesterday in the Metropolitan Opera House before a privileged few who had cards of admittance. Many well-known people were there, amoung them James H. Hyde, Jr., Mme. Gadski, Pol Plancon, Daniel Frohman, David Belasco, Mrs. Van Rensselaer Cruger, Mme. Seygard, Walter Damrosch, and H. H. Wetzler.
Several ministers, both Protestant and Roman Catholic, were present at the rehearsal. All agreed afterward that "Parsifal" was perfectly free from the evil of blasphemy. Mr. Conried's representative, who gave out this information, refused to make known the names of any of them. Perhaps most interesting of all the gathering at the rehearsal was Baba Premanand Bharati, a Hindu. The washing of Parsifal's feet by Kundry, he said, might be a compared to a common Hindu custom just as easily as the washing of Christ's feet by the Magdalen.
