Review 1:

Review of Mark A. Schubart in The New York Times

Miss Resnik, who is still in her early twenties, was notified to appear just twenty-four hours before curtain time when it was learned that Zinka Milanov was ill. With only one and a quarter hours' rehearsal she took over the difficult role and won several ovations for her efforts.

All things considered, Miss Resnik's debut was an auspicious one. She has a strong, clear soprano which, though occasionally marred by a tremolo, is both agile enough for the florid passages allotted to Leonora and forceful enough for the dramatic ones. Her conception of the role is naturally not a mature one, but she brings to the music considerable freshness and vitality. Some of her best singing came in the fourth act aria, "D'amor sull'ali rosee," whose passage-work was nimbly overcome and whose dramatic sentiments were expertly conveyed. One remarkable feature of Miss Resnik's performance was that despite the impromptu quality of her appearance, she handled herself on the stage with confidence and authority."
