G?tterd?mmerung
Ring Cycle
Academy of Music, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sat, April 20, 1889
G?tterd?mmerung (15)
Richard Wagner | Richard Wagner
A critic reported that the Act II "interview between Hagen and Alberich" was cut, which would mean that the character of Alberich was not performed. Yet the writer goes on to point out that "Herr Grienauer sang the role of the dwarf," explaining that Herr Beck, the scheduled Alberich, was suffering from throat trouble.
In this season's performances of G?tterd?mmerung, the following music was omitted: the scene with the three Norns in the Prologue; in Act I, Scene 3, the scene between Br?nnhilde and Waltraute; and Act II, Scene 1, with Alberich and Hagen.
